True Result

True Result testing strips can be used by diabetics to monitor their blood glucose levels throughout the day. Used along with a glucometer for reading, these testing strips are suitable for both type 1 and type 2 diabetics and are an effective way of monitoring your condition.

A diabetic patient can apply a drop of their blood to a single-use testing strip and a glucometer can then be used on the strip to measure the amount of sugar in the blood. Using these testing strips during the day can allow people with diabetes to keep track with how well they are managing their condition and figure out whether they may need to reduce or increase their current blood sugar level.

True Result blood glucose testing strips for sale

True Result testing strips are a way of allowing people with diabetes to check their blood glucose levels on numerous occasions throughout the day. This product can be used by people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes in conjunction with a glucometer (aka blood glucose meter).

People with diabetes can apply a drop of their blood on to one of these testing strips, and the strip will react with a chemical in the blood called glucose oxidase. This chemical is then measured by the glucometer using a special algorithm. Within a few seconds, your blood glucose level should be shown on the screen of your glucometer.

By using True Result testing strips, you can become more aware of your current blood sugar levels. These strips can be useful for checking if your medication is effectively managing your condition and whether anything needs to be done to raise or lower your blood sugar level.

How do I dispose of blood test strips?

Each blood test strip is for single-use only and they should be disposed of immediately after they are used. However, because used strips contain a bodily fluid, it’s not a simple case of just throwing them in with the household waste. Testing strips should be disposed of in a sharps bin.

A doctor can prescribe you a sharps bin and this item can be returned to your pharmacy for proper disposal. Some local councils provide sharps bins free of charge, so it’s worth checking with your local council if this service is available before making an appointment with your GP (for getting a bin).

How often do I need to use True Result testing strips?

The number of times it’s recommended you check your blood glucose levels depends on what type of diabetes you have and what medications you are using. If you have type 1 diabetes, then you may need to check your blood sugar levels more frequently than people with type 2 diabetes.

It is common that you’ll need to check your blood glucose levels at least twice a day. Your GP will advise you on the ideal amount of checks based on your exact circumstances. To check your levels properly, you need to understand your target range. This can vary based on what your normal blood glucose level is and what type of diabetes you have. You should speak to your doctor about what your target range should be.

How to use True Result testing strips

It is easy to use True Result testing strips and they can provide results in a matter of seconds. Before you start using the strips, you should make sure your hands are completely clean, so wash and dry them first if necessary. Without doing this, your blood might be contaminated by whatever is on your hands and lead to a false reading. The blood used on a testing strip should always come from a fingertip (unless your device states otherwise).

When ready, turn on your glucometer and insert a testing strip into your glucometer. Prick your chosen finger with a lancet and then squeeze your finger until a drop of blood comes out. Put the blood on the end of the test strip and the strip should soak it up. Then you just have to wait a short amount of time for the result to appear on the glucometer.

How accurate are True Result strips?

The accuracy of a blood glucose level test is more dependent on the glucometer rather than the testing strips. True Result is a respected and high quality brand, so the results from their testing strips should always be accurate assuming the glucometer used is up to scratch.

There are a few factors which can influence the accuracy of a blood glucose level test and they include the following:

  • Temperature - Glucometers usually work at their best at room temperature, so make sure your device is not too hot or cold to provide a truly accurate reading.
  • Humidity - You should keep your glucometer and testing strips as dry as possible, since humidity can disturb the accuracy of test results.
  • Amount of blood applied - Testing strips rely on taking a certain amount of blood to provide an accurate reading. If you’re not getting reliable results, then it may be because you’re not using enough blood. It’s not the most pleasant thing to do, but make sure your giving test strips a sufficient amount of blood when using them.
  • The expiry date of test strips - It may be hard to believe, but testing strips do have expiry dates and they’re important. Using a strip before its expiry date has passed is important for getting the most accurate result possible.
